Bob Hampton's Reef Life at Kwajalein

The dreaded stonefish

This is a Stonefish.  This colorful fish has poison barbs in the dorsal fin.  It has the amazing ability to make itself look just like part of a shipwreck, or a piece of coral on a reef, or whatever.  They are best avoided.
A crab on the reef

One of the many varieties of crabs that inhabit the reef around Kwajalein.
Giant Killer Clam!

A Giant Killer Clam!  This one is only about 2 ft. across, but I've seen these in Kwajalein Lagoon as big as 6 ft.!  It's actual name is "Giant Tridacna Clam".  They are very powerful, but they are also very slow.
Two crinoids on a large coralhead in Kwajalein Lagoon

These two "feather dusters" are animals called Crinoids.  I photographed them while on a Kwajalein Scuba Club Dive Boat trip to a large coralhead in Kwajalein Lagoon.  The dive boat (a KMR landing craft) is visible in the background.
moorish Idols

These fish are called Moorish Idols.

I don't know what kind of fish these are.
