This is a photo of the Space Shuttle Challenger (STS 8) in orbit over the Marshall Islands, as viewed from Kwajalein Island. I shot the photo at 07:55 UTC 8/31/1983. Challenger was in it's 17th orbit of the flight.

This is a 30 second exposure at f-2.5 on 1000 ASA film, using a Nikonos underwater camera, on a tripod, with a 35mm lens.

The tower shown in the photo is an HF radio antenna at the BCB on Kwajalein. The bright flare at the bottom is from lights at the FPQ-19 Radar.
